    David Cook

    For many years David Cook was the Principal of the Sydney Missionary and Bible College, his ministry now involves lecturing in preaching at a number of colleges in Australia and encouraging preachers through the Expository Preaching Trust. Married to Maxine for 48 years, the Cooks have 5 adult children and 14 grandchildren. David follows the Australian cricket team and his local Rugby League team in Sydney. This will be David’s third visit to Word Alive.

    Becky Pippert

    Becky Pippert, is an evangelist, author and speaker. She and her husband are founders of Becky Pippert Ministries, a global evangelism ministry. Becky and her husband Dick have ministered extensively on all 6 continents, most recently for 7 years in the U.K. and Europe. Becky, the author of the evangelism classic Out of The Salt Shaker, has written 12 books, including her Evangelism DVD training course, Empowered; her Discipleship curriculum Live/Grow/Know, and numerous Seeker Bible Studies.

    Bruce Ware

    Bruce was educated at Whitworth College (BA), Western Seminary (MDiv, ThM), the University of Washington (MA), and Fuller Theological Seminary (PhD). He has taught theology in several leading evangelical colleges and seminaries for over 30 years. Since 1998 he has served at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky where he is the T. Rupert and Lucille Coleman Professor of Christian Theology, and chairman of the Department of Christian Theology. Among the books he has authored are: God’s Lesser Glory: The Diminished God of Open Theism; God’s Greater Glory: The Exalted God of Scripture and the Christian Faith; his theology book for children, Big Truths for Young Hearts; and The Man Christ Jesus: Theological Reflections on the Humanity of Christ.

  • Lord Michael Farmer

    Michael Farmer

    Michael Farmer is a member of the House of Lords and a former Conservative Treasurer. His main political focus is on tackling the very poor family breakdown situation in Britain. His career has been as a globally focussed base metal trader/hedge fund manager and has spanned over 50 years. He became a Christian at the age of 35 and has been a warden at St. Helen’s Bishopsgate for 20 years, and a supporter of various Christian churches and theological colleges worldwide. His faith has obviously influenced his political policies, but he has also been active evangelistically with City businessmen and men’s breakfasts. He is married to Jenny and they have three adult children.

    Ian Garrett

    Ian grew up in a non-Christian family and came to faith in Jesus through a school CU. His gap year in Kenya with a mission agency was the start of God’s guidance towards full-time ministry. After studying natural sciences and then theology, Ian has served in three churches – at present, Jesmond Parish Church in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Ian is married to Tess and they have three young girls and a dog. A Northumberland beach or Lakeland mountain are favourite ‘unwinds’ – along with P.G.Wodehouse.

    Steve Midgley

    Steve is the Executive Director of Biblical Counselling UK. He is married to Beth and they have three children. Steve teaches pastoral theology at Oak Hill College, is a board member of CCEF and on the council of the Biblical Counseling Coalition. He is senior minister of Christ Church, Cambridge.

    Olly Knight

    Olly is married to Kirsty and they have two young children, Caleb and Rose. He leads the worship team at The City Church, Canterbury. He is passionate about Christ-centered worship that’s full of Biblical truth and music that’s creative and stirs the heart. Olly has written songs such as My Treasure and Fountain of Goodness that feature on his album The Stream.

  • Ben Shaw

    Ben Shaw

    Ben is a Brit but has spent the last 5 years in the USA studying for the Master of Divinity degree at Southern Seminary where he was also an intern with Bob Kauflin and Sovereign Grace Music. Ben is passionate about helping God’s people remember God’s goodness and sing God’s praise. He loves the local church and has recently been appointed to serve in the Music Ministry role at Christ Church Fulwood in Sheffield. He is excited to be returning to Word Alive to lead worship with his good friend Matt Dennis. When not making music, Ben enjoys cooking, travelling and the great outdoors.

    Matt Dennis

    Matt has served as Music Director at Christ Church Fulwood in Sheffield since 2015 and is part of the church family there along with his wife, Stephi. Having trained as a Tonmeister at the University of Surrey, Matt now runs ‘Resound’: a small business providing a range of professional audio services and seeking to serve local churches across the UK. He also serves as part of the national leadership of Music Ministry UK and is passionate about helping God’s people to behold Christ through song. When he’s not working, Matt enjoys cycling, eating out and watching England play cricket.
