accomodation guide

You can choose between the convenience of Half Board and the flexibility of self-catering, as well as from a range of grades of accommodation.

On site accommodation is in apartments, which are on the ground or first floor and have one or two bedrooms (sleeping two per room in single beds) as well as a sofabed in the lounge/kitchen area. For Word Alive all prices include electricity and heating. Please note you need to bring your own bed linen, washing up items, towels, toiletries and personal effects. Pillows, duvets, cooking items, crockery and cutlery are provided in all apartments.

accommodation grades

Accommodating just two people, studios contain a small kitchenette with toaster, microwave, kettle and colour TV. The bathroom has a full-length bath and shower.

Offering good value for money, Popular apartments have a colour TV, a bathroom with a full-length bath and shower, and a lounge area.

Classic apartments have all the facilities of Popular, but usually have a higher grade of equipment and are situated near to Pontins' main

Club apartments have all the facilities of Classic, but include a flat screen TV with digital channels, a complimentary tea and coffee pack, iron, and daily newspaper token. They are situated near to Word Alive’s main venue, the Great Marquee.

half board

If you fancy a holiday without the cooking and washing up then half board is for you. Pontins charge £15/day for each adult (14 years old and over) or £7.50/day for a child (aged between 3 and 13. Under 3s are free).  When you book simply add the number of half board places you would like and you will be charged £75/adult
or £37.50/child extra.

You can add half board places to your booking later by phoning the office until the end of March. Subject to availability, it will be possible to purchase half board places on arrival at the Pontins reception.

Self-catering gives you independence and space to organise your day as you wish. Pontins has its own on-park supermarket for your basic needs. There are also some food vans providing a tasty break from doing the cooking yourself.

Except for when registered in the  appropriate Word Alive programme  sessions, children may not be left alone  without full adult supervision. Whilst every  care is taken children remain the  responsibility of their parents or guardians at all times. At least one adult (over 18) must occupy each unit of accommodation.  Children should not be left unattended in their accommodation.

Pontins can usually cater for special dietary requirements.

  • Wide range of food available
  • Healthy and vegetarian options
  • Tea, coffee and soft drinks included

Please note that breakfast and evening meal is provided including evening meal on the day of arrival and breakfast on the day of departure.

low income

We offer a bursary towards coming to Word Alive when the main income earner receives either Income Support, Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, has a valid NHS tax credit exemption certificate or receives certain types of housing benefit. The bursary is £100 for each person attending Word Alive who is dependent on that low income, up to a maximum of £500. For example, a qualifying couple with two
children would get a £400 reduction on their accommodation cost.

When you book you will have the option to choose ‘low income bursary’. You will then need to state the type of support or allowance you receive, of which you will need to send us proof. You will also need to fill in how many dependents are attending, for the cost of your unit to be reduced accordingly. Please note that the bursary is limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. This year we are unable to offer reduced price half board meals.
