February 2018 News Update
7 February 2018
Join us at Word Alive 2018
Onsite units available
Our onsite accommodation is largely sold out but some units have become available. They are released for sale here. You can also still join us at Word Alive 2018 by staying off-site.
Stay off site: choose the type of accommodation you’d like – B&B, caravan, hotel, air BnB etc - (see our website for some suggestions) and book your event passes. If you stay off site you’ll need to buy Event Passes to attend Word Alive. We’ve held the price from last year, under-3s are still free and we’ve added some new concessions for 2018.
Our forums are a good way of advertising or requesting spare accommodation or anything else you have or need! Go to HERE
We’re delighted to have Ted Turnau as one of our morning track speakers at Word Alive 2018. Ted is American, works in Prague teaching cultural studies. I asked him to give us a line on what he’ll be speaking about at Word Alive. He says,
“It’s obvious that we now live in a post-Christian culture. How should Christians respond? Flee to the hills and hunker down? Seek to control and “recapture the culture for Christ”? Is there a creative alternative where we can speak life and peace into a culture alienated from God, planting oases in a dying world? This track explores that last option.”
We’re aware that for some of you, Easter is an important revision time. So this is to let you know we’ve designated some spaces around the site as revision areas at certain times. Details will be in the programme on site.
Additional stewards are needed to make sure the week runs safely and smoothly. If that is a role you could take on, or you know anyone who would be interested, it’s a great way to serve people at the event and we’ll provide food and accommodation. If you are interested please contact the Word Alive office. We’re looking for approximately 20 more stewards, so we would be very grateful if you could share this with anyone who may be interested.
Thanks to those who have told us who will be in their chalet, including the ages of children. That’s a great help to us in planning the children and youth teams. If you havne’t filled your information in yet, please do so – go to your booking?
Mentioning Ted Turnau’s track leads me to say he’s spoken at Word Alive before in 2014. He spoke on how to engage with popular culture as a Christian, consuming, critiquing and creating it. You can access a free download HERE
